Ed’s Metal Finishes

Ed had an interest in natural metal finishes that bordered on obsessive. It should be remembered that this was the era when Testor’s Metallizer paints were about the best we could get our hands on and to say that modelers actively avoided natural metal would be a vast understatement; We used to see a LOT of Century series fighters wearing SEA camo schemes back in those days.

Ed tirelessly experimented with every method in his search for a good looking and convincing aluminum finish.

When Alclad hit the market, Ed was all over it and he quickly mastered its application. To his great credit, he freely shared everything he discovered and taught others (including me) how to use those game-changing paints.
