“Hobo” M4A3 USMC Iwo Jima

Member John Shimek built this M4A3 Sherman to represent a USMC 5th Tank Battalion tank named ‘Hobo’ as used on Iwo Jima in 1945. He used a Dragon kit and made several modifications to include, added 140 track grousers from 1.5mm u-channel, sand bags from ‘mini chicklets gum, 68 scaled rivets and 79 spikes on the turret hatch areas. Chicken wire was used from a product called ‘Spawn Net’ from a local sporting goods store. The wading exhaust trunk was scratched from plastic card and he used a metal 75mm gun barrel from ARMO.
