February 2012 Meeting – Location Change!

This month’s meeting will be on Monday, February 20th at 6:30 PM at Ed Kinney’s house. See below for directions. Our next meeting will be on Monday, March 19th. Mark your calendars!

Directions to Ed Kinney’s House

Those of you from the north take I-77 south to Everhard Road/Belden Village Exit. Turn right on Everhard, go to the 1st traffic light, turn left on Dressler Rd. Follow Dressler south through 4 traffic lights. The 4th one will be at the corner of Hills and Dales Road and Dressler (the former Bally’s is on the corner). Go through the light (the street is now called Woodlawn). You will pass the new Aultman Care Building, Woodlawn Village and the first street to the right is Lawndale (white fence at the corner). Turn right, go to stop sign, turn right, the street jogs to the left. Follow Lawndale to the stop sign. Turn left – 2011 Glenmont is the 7th house on the right.

Those of you from Canton or south should take Hills and Dales Road from Whipple or Route 241 to the light at Bally’s. Go south on Woodlawn and pick up the instructions above from this point.

M48A3 3rd Cavalry Vietnam

This is an Italeri kit in 1/72 scale with a Legend Production resin sand bag armor added. Model is by member John Shimek. Modifications include Bogie Wheels cut in two, spacer disc added; return rollers scribed to represent dual roller; track guide teeth added from 1.5mm channel cut into 144 pieces of .5mm lengths. Model master paints applied and weathered with oils ans pastel chalks (Gumbacher pastels – English Red {90%} Umber {10%} mixture.

Member Ken Patterson is building the Tamiya 1/48 scale F-16. Here are a few pic’s of his Aires resin cockpit build up. Plans for this build is yo finish with a ‘Arctic Aggressor Blue Flanker’ scheme. More pic’s of build will be posted as Ken progresses. Enjoy!

F-84 1/32 Scale OOB Build

This is a Hobby Boss 1/32 scale F-84 built out of the box with kit supplied decals by member Ed Kinney. Ed used Eduard seat belts and exhaust cover and painted using Alclad II paint.

Hasegawa A4C

Ed Kinney’s A4C Skyhawk build is superb and captures the scheme as used by John McCain as flown in Vietnam. This is a Hasegawa 1/48 scale kit.

January 2012 Meeting

Our January 2012 meeting will be at the Cutler Realty on Monday, January 16 at 6:30 p.m. Our normal monthly business/topics will be discussed. There will be a Theme Contest -’Polish a Turd’ contest sponsored by Ed Kinney, i.e., ”build a really bad/inaccurate kit and turn it into a gem” and a non-theme contest will be held as well.

Be prepared to discuss sponsorship for 2012′s monthly Theme contests. Hope to see you there and if you know someone interested in the hobby, invite them along.

2012 – Happy New Year to All

The officers wish a successful, prosperous and Happy New Year to all our members of Fame Cities Chapter IPMS for 2012 as we usher in the new year.

As a chapter, our members have had a very successful and outstanding year in 2011, entering various contest and shows across the country. Keep building those models in a hobby we love and enjoy and 2012 will be a very good year too. Best wishes for All and may God Bless.

The Christmas meeting in December was a great success and thank you to all for your efforts.

December 2011 Meeting- Merry Christmas

Our December 2011 meeting will be at the Cutler Realty on Monday, December 19 at 6:30 p.m. Our normal monthly business/topics will be discussed. There will be a Theme Contest -”National Guard and Reserves” sponsored by member Ralph Nolan and a non-theme contest as well.

That being said, the December meeting will also host our annual Christmas Extravaganza. The club will provide pizza and soft drinks, and we ask everyone to bring something edible of their choice to share.

But wait, there’s more! Our annual Raffle will be held this month also! “More fun and food than a club should be allowed to have” to quote Financial Secretary Joe Staudt and as Joe would remind us, its time to renew for our 2012 dues: still just $12 for individual or $14 for a family.

So don’t miss it, come out and enjoy and Merry Christmas to all.

November 2011 Meeting – Update

Our November 2011 meeting will be at Ed Kinney’s house, SUNDAY November 20 at 2:00 p.m. Our normal monthly business/topics will be discussed. There will be a Theme Contest – ‘Alclad’ sponsored by Ed Kinney and Alclad. Build whatever you like and use some Alclad paint on the model. That being said, there will also be a Non-Theme Contest as well.

Joe Stoudt will be putting an e-mail out to membership with directions.

October 2011 Meeting
