Our May 2013 meeting will be at the Cutler Realty on Monday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. Our normal monthly business/topics will be discussed.

We have a Theme Contest scheduled for this month, ‘Build What You Normally Don’t”, ie. Armor guys build other than Armor, Aircraft guys build other than aircraft, etc. – sponsored by John Shimek. There will also be a non-theme contest as well.

The next several months meetings will have a Theme Contest scheduled. Here is a heads up on June’s Theme – “Battle of Britain, 1939 – Dec. 7, 1941; sponsored by Larry Davis.

Hope to see you there and if you know someone interested in the hobby, invite them along.

We have had several shows/contests in the area sponsored by sister IPMS Chapters – Three Rivers Pittsburgh and the Region 4 Convention in Dayton hosted by IPMS Wright Field Scale Modelers. Several of our Fame Cities members attended, competed and did extremely well at these shows. Congratulations and Well Done to all !

Directions to Cutler Realty:
From the south, take I-77 north to Portage Rd., exit #111. Turn right on Portage and go to the 4th traffic light, which is Pittsburgh Rd. Turn left onto Pittsburgh, and at the next light turn right onto Applegrove. Go about a half mile and Cutler Realty will be on the left before you reach the next traffic light.
Alternate route: Take I-77 north to Shuffle Rd., exit #112. Turn right onto Shuffle Rd., then follow the directions below. Less traffic and fewer lights to deal with.

Our March 2013 meeting will be at the Cutler Realty on Monday, March 18 at 6:30 p.m. Our normal monthly business/topics will be discussed.

We do not have a theme contest scheduled for this month. The next scheduled theme contest is the May meeting – ‘Build what you normally don’t’ – sponsored by John Shimek. Last months ‘Green Goblin’ theme was a great success. Thanks go out to Joe Staudt for sponsoring the contest.

Hope to see you there and if you know someone interested in the hobby, invite them along.

From the north take I-77 south to Shuffle Rd., exit #112. Turn right onto Shuffle Rd.; when it dead ends turn right onto Pittsburgh Rd. At the next traffic light turn left onto Applegrove. Go about a half mile and Cutler Realty will be on the left before you reach the next traffic light.

Member Dave Ball built this F8F-1 Bearcat in 1/48 scale from Hobby Boss. Dave had this to say … “It is the 1/48 scale Hobbyboss kit. Everything is stock out of the box except I added pe seatbelts and used brass tubing for the exhaust headers and the .50 cal. guns. It is painted with Model Master paints and the decals are a combination of stock decals and decals from the old Testors kit.” Great job Dave. Enjoy!

Member Ed Kinney built this 1/48 scale F9F Cougar from Fonderie Miniatures kit. Ed had this to say -”Possibly the WORST kit I’ve had on my bench EVER !! I started this thing about 2 years ago and without my “friends” constant harassment, I don’t think it would have ever been finished. Included were cut & scratch built wing folds, hand rubbed lacquer paints and about 3/4 tube of glazing putty and ….. Voila ! Le piece du MERDE`. I REALLY need a Tamiya break.
Enjoy or laugh your buns off… Your choice.”
Great job Ed on a really tough build.
